James Herriot is the world’s most-loved veterinarian. The books he wrote about his experiences tending to the animals of the Yorkshire Dales inspired two movies, the 1978 television series “All Creatures Great and Small,” and the new version of the show currently airing around the world.
In the late 1950s, Herriot took his son on a multi-day walk through some of the most beautiful countryside in the Dales. The Herriot Way is inspired by that walk, and it takes its walkers through the same scenery and historic places that they enjoyed.
In this hour-long documentary, Chris and Lorena Linke take you on a magnificent four-day journey following in Herriot’s footsteps. Along the way, they experience rolling fields, spectacular views, historic lead mines, prehistoric settlements, even a Roman fort. And they’ll introduce you to some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet—including Herriot’s son, Jim, who shares his memories of his father and of the walk that inspired The Herriot Way.
